Another strong week in the book finally breaking through in the NCAA at 7-2 (77.7%) and 4-3 in the NFL (57.1%). Three consecutive winning weeks in the NFL coupled with two of the last three weeks in the NCAA. My season totals are listed below:
NCAA 19-16-1 (54.3%)
NFL 14-7 (66.7%)
Week 4
NCAA
1.) Ohio (+1) v. Kent St.
Ohio is coming off a tough loss at home against a decent Wyoming team, while Kent St. lost on the road to an average Akron team. I like the way this Ohio team is playing, they are well coached an they are at home. Kent St. has a strong defense, but the offense will let them down in this one. Look for Ohio to come up with a big special teams play in this one.
Pick: Ohio by 8
Result: Kent St. 33, Ohio 25 (Loss)
2.) Cincinnati (-14) at San Diego St.
The Bearcats have an excellent team this year and are ranked for the first time in ages. They have to travel across country for this showdown against the Aztecs. I don't expect the Bearcats to fall into this trap there is too much riding on this game. The Bearcats roll against an inferior Aztec team.
Pick: Cincinnati by 22
Result: Cincinnati 52, San Diego St. 23 (Win)
3.) Oregon (-5.5) v. California
This Duck team is on a real high and has loads of talent and will be looking to pay back Cal for the rout last year in Berkley. Oregon is very difficult to beat at home a will send a message to the PAC 10 this week. Cal has not impressed me this season since the Cal game. Actually, I expect this to be a lot like the Tennessee - Cal game except Oregon will be the one laying the beatdown.
Pick: Oregon by 13
Result: California 31, Oregon 24 (Loss)
4.) UCLA (+1.5) at Oregon St.
The Bruins rebounded with a big win over Washington last week, securing me another notch in the victory column. Oregon St. is very difficult to beat at home, but the Bruins are a very talented team. I'm not surprised to see the Beavers favored in this one, but the Brius will previal in this close PAC 10 battle.
Pick: UCLA by 5
Result: UCLA 40, Oregon St. 14 (Win)
5.) Alabama (+2.5) v. Florida St.
If you've been following my website this year you know how I feel about the Seminoles. The ACC is the most overrated conference in the BCS and Bama will be looking ot get back on track after the heartbreaker last week versus Georgia. The Crimson Tide getting points, I'm all over it.
Pick: Alabama by 3
Result: Florida St. 21, Alabama14 (Loss)
6.) Utep (+1.5) at SMU
SMU looks like a terrible team this season and UTEP has playing pretty solid ball. I was surprised the Mustangs were favored in this one, although the Miners have had issues playing on the road. This is a big Conf USA game for Utep and I feel they are clearly the superior team.
Pick: UTEP by 4
Result: UTEP 48, SMU 45 (Win)
7.) Air Force (+2.5) at Navy
Air Force will be looking for revenge in this batlle of the Acadamies. Navy has controlled the series of late but appears to be a much weaker team than years past. Navy has struggled with Temple and Duke and lost at home to Ball St. Throw the records out when these two meet, but I'll take the Falcons in what should be a thriller.
Pick: Air Force by 1
Result: Navy 31, Air Force 20 (Loss)
(Blowout of the Week) LSU (-39.5) at Tulane
LSU will roll in this one against rivals Tulane. Tulane might not score against this outstanding Tiger defense. The Tigers will not hesitate to run this on up on Tulane. This will be ugly early an often.
Pick: LSU by 54
Result: LSU 34, Tulane 9 (Loss)
(Underdog Play of the Week) Auburn (+18.5) at Florida
I know, at the swamp, at night, an outstanding Gator team, and revenge on the mind....blowout city right? The Tiger always play Florida tough and I can't ignore an Auburn team getting 18.5 even if it is a rebuilding year.
Pick: Florida by 14
Result: Auburn 20, Florida 17 (Win)

NFL
1.) Green Bay (-1.5) at Minnesota
I'll ride the Pack again this week. Green Bay was surprise team of the NFC and they have not disappointed yet this season. The Vikings have a great run defense but that's about it. Even at the Metrodome the Vikings won't be able to get it done against a strong Packer team.
Pick: Packers by 9
Result: Green Bay 23, Minnesota 16 (Win)
2.) Kansas City (+11.5) at San Diego
The Chargers are in shambles, period. These two rivals usually play tight games and I expect this one to be no different. Huard is starting to build a rapport with Gonzalez and the rookie Bowe and the Chargers are one of the worst pass defenses in football. The Chargers get the "W", but this one will be closer than expected.
Pick: Chargers by 7
Result: Cheifs 30, Chargers 16 (Win)
3.) Tampa Bay (+3) at Carolina
I like the way the Bucs are playing this year on both sides of the ball. Carolina looks shaky to me and is banged up at the moment. Gruden will have a strong game plan in this one and Galloway should have big day against the weak Carolins pass defense. Tampa continues to impress.
Pick: Tampa by 3
Result: Tampa Bay 20, Carolina 7 (Win)
(Blowout of the Week) Baltimore (-4.5) at Cleveland
I thought I had the Ravens last week with a big lead versus Arizona only to watch them let it slip it away. That won't happen again this week. Cleveland looked terrible last week at Oakland and this spread may be a hangover from the Cincinnati game. This one will look more like the Browns - Steelers game than Browns - Bengals game.
Pick: Ravens by 18
Result: Cleveland 27, Baltimore 13 (Loss)
(Upset Special) Oakland (+4) at Miami
The Dolphins are horrible and Kiffin has the Raiders playing much better than last season. Culpepper should get the nod in this one and will look to play well against the team who cut him loose. Jordan is running on all cylinders and should have a big game against the banged up Dolphin defense.
Pick: Raiders by 5
Result: Oakland 35, Miami 17 (Win)
(Under 52.5) New England at Cincinnati
I'm not ready to hand the Super Bowl to the Patroits just yet, although they face thier fourth consecutive poor pass defense in this on. However, for the first time this season they face a strong passing offense and will look to run more than expected to keep the Cincy offense off the field.
Result: 47 points -- New England 34, Cincinnati 13 (Win)
(Over 37) NY Jets at Buffalo
Things usually aren't what they seem when these two rivals get together. Buffalo has no offense but look for them to put some points on the board this week. Evans will finally have a breakout game after his terrible start to the season. Lynch and Jones should run at will in this surprising shootout.
Result: 31 points -- Buffalo 17, NY Jets 14 (Loss)
Other Games:

- Houston over Atlanta by 4....Schaub has his revenge even without Green and Johnson
